On the vibrant morning of December 23, 2023, the Vanni region witnessed a harmonious gathering as six JDCSI churches came together for a combined Carol service at 9:30 am. The sacred venue for this jubilant congregation was the Christ the King Church in Kilinochchi.
The heartwarming event featured the soul-stirring performances of the choirs from each of the participating churches. The Christ the King Church in Kilinochchi, St. Andrew’s Church in Mankulam, St. Paul’s Church in Murikandy, St. James’s Church in Barathipuram, Shalom Nagar Church in Murippu, and St. Trinity Church in Visuwamadu all lent their voices to create a symphony of festive melodies that resonated with the spirit of Christmas.
The esteemed Bishop RT Rev. Dr. V. Pathmathayalan, accompanied by his spouse, graced the occasion with their presence. Rev. Sathees Daniel, Secretary, JDCSI, Mr. Joe Inparaj, Treasurer, JDCSI and regional minister Rev. K. S. Joseph’s also participated in the joyous occasion. The Bishop delivered a heartfelt Christmas message, enriching the atmosphere with spiritual wisdom and blessings. Rev. Fr. Nixon Colin, representing the Catholic Church Tharmapuram Parish, added to the spiritual depth of the gathering with a reflective Christmas message.
The service, presided over by Bishop Pathmathayalan, was not only a celebration of faith and music but also a moment of profound reflection. Participants were blessed with the divine essence of Christmas, embracing the joy and unity that the season brings.
This combined Carol service served as a testament to the power of communal worship and shared festivities. It brought together diverse congregations, fostering a sense of togetherness and warmth.
