Jaffna, October 1, 2024 – The Ganagam Subramaniyam Pleasant Cottage hosted a heartwarming Elders’ Days Program today, bringing together the community to honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our senior citizens. Organized by the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI), the event was a vibrant showcase of love and respect, reflecting our Christian values of honoring one another.

Youths from various local congregations came together to entertain the elders with music, dance, and heartfelt performances, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and laughter. The highlight of the day was the traditional garlanding ceremony, where each elder was adorned with beautiful garlands, symbolizing their cherished place within our community.

In addition to the entertainment, elders were presented with thoughtful gifts, reinforcing our commitment to caring for those who have paved the way for future generations. The program also included a special prayer service, offering blessings and expressing gratitude for the wisdom and guidance of our elders.

“It is our duty to honor those who have shaped our lives,” said one of the youth participants. “Today’s celebration reminds us of the love and strength that our elders embody.”

The JDCSI is dedicated to fostering community spirit and ensuring that our elders feel valued and appreciated. Today’s event not only strengthened the bonds between generations but also highlighted the importance of compassion and service within our Christian community.

As we reflect on this day, let us continue to support and uplift our elders, ensuring they receive the respect and love they truly deserve. Together, we can build a community that honors our past while nurturing a hopeful future.
