Jaffna, December 4, 2024 – In a heartfelt effort to support flood-affected communities, the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI) extended its humanitarian assistance to Attagiri, a village in the Sandilipay division. This initiative underscores the diocese’s unwavering commitment to serving vulnerable communities during emergencies.
After consulting with the Divisional Secretary of Sandilipay, the diocese identified Attagiri, located in the Navaly North Grama Sevaka division, as a community in urgent need of aid. The village had not yet received any relief support following recent flooding.
Under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. V. Pathmathayalan, Bishop of the Jaffna Diocese, and in collaboration with the Divisional Secretary’s office, the diocese distributed 50 dry ration parcels to affected families. The relief materials included essential supplies aimed at meeting immediate needs, demonstrating the diocese’s dedication to compassionate service.
This act of solidarity not only reflects the diocese’s mission to provide timely support but also showcases the power of collaboration in times of crisis. By working closely with local authorities, the Jaffna Diocese ensured that relief reached those most in need.
