April 2025 – Jaffna Diocese, Sri Lanka

Palm Sunday and Easter services were celebrated with profound reverence and unity across the Jaffna Diocese, including churches in Vaddukoddai, Sandilipay, Galle, Kalmadu, Atchuvely, Colombo, Alaveddy, and Wattala. These holy days drew congregations together in worship, prayer, and joyful remembrance of Christ’s resurrection.

Across these regions, pastors led spirit-filled services marked by scripture readings, traditional hymns, and Palm Sunday processions. On Easter Sunday, churches were filled with vibrant praise as the message of hope and new life was proclaimed.

A significant highlight of the celebrations was the presence of the Bishop, who not only delivered the Easter message but also took time to bless the children, affirming the church’s commitment to nurturing faith across generations.

“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.”
Matthew 28:6

The congregations, from elders to young children, actively participated in each service, reflecting a deep hunger for spiritual renewal and communal fellowship. Many shared testimonies of answered prayers and renewed hope.

Renowned theologian N.T. Wright once said,
“Easter is not just about the future hope of heaven, but about the transformative power of God breaking into our present.”

Conclusion:
The peaceful observance of Palm Sunday and Easter in the Jaffna Diocese not only commemorated the cornerstone of Christian faith but also strengthened the unity of believers across regions. With hearts lifted in worship and spirits renewed, the diocese moves forward with joy and purpose, embracing the message of the risen Christ.
