Fruitful Participation of JDCSI in the Bishops’ Council at CSI Synod Centre
With gratitude to God and in the spirit of unity, the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI) joyfully reports its meaningful participation in the Bishops’ Council of the Church of South India, convened on May 14, 2025, at the CSI Synod Centre, Chennai.

The Council was prayerfully led by the Officers of the CSI:
- Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof. K. Reuben Mark, Deputy Moderator and Moderator In-charge
- Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, General Secretary
- Prof. Dr. B. Vimal Sukumar, Honorary Treasurer
Bishops from all dioceses of the CSI gathered in a spirit of brotherhood, prayer, and shared vision. Representing JDCSI, Rt. Rev. V. Pathmathayalan, our beloved Bishop, actively participated in the proceedings, contributing the voice and vision of the Jaffna Diocese to the wider Church.
This Council was a deeply enriching experience for JDCSI, fostering strong ecumenical fellowship and strengthening our shared commitment to the mission of Christ. The dialogue, theological reflection, and spiritual encouragement offered at the meeting were uplifting, especially as JDCSI continues its journey of healing, hope, and witness amidst the post-conflict realities of Northern Sri Lanka.
We return with hearts full of thanksgiving and renewed commitment, having been part of this sacred time of discernment and planning with our fellow shepherds in the CSI. The hospitality, collegiality, and unity experienced remind us that we are one body in Christ, called to serve together for the glory of God.
May the grace of our Lord continue to bind us together in love, and may the mission of the Church of South India flourish in every region it serves.
With warm greetings and blessings,
Jaffna Diocese, Church of South India (JDCSI)
